Thanks for the heads up! I never got xvmc working, so vdpau is my first 
attempt at tapping into GPU hardware acceleration. The implemention in 
mplayer is workiing very, very well for me. Even the videos I could not 
play with nvidia's patched mplayer are now playing without a hitch.
