Subject: [merged] mm-hwpoison-dont-need-to-hold-compound-lock-for-hugetlbfs-page.patch removed from -mm tree To: liwanp@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,andi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx,n-horiguchi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx,tony.luck@xxxxxxxxx,mm-commits@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx From: akpm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Thu, 12 Sep 2013 12:45:23 -0700 The patch titled Subject: mm/hwpoison: don't need to hold compound lock for hugetlbfs page has been removed from the -mm tree. Its filename was mm-hwpoison-dont-need-to-hold-compound-lock-for-hugetlbfs-page.patch This patch was dropped because it was merged into mainline or a subsystem tree ------------------------------------------------------ From: Wanpeng Li <liwanp@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: mm/hwpoison: don't need to hold compound lock for hugetlbfs page compound lock is introduced by commit e9da73d67("thp: compound_lock."), it is used to serialize put_page against __split_huge_page_refcount(). In addition, transparent hugepages will be splitted in hwpoison handler and just one subpage will be poisoned. There is unnecessary to hold compound lock for hugetlbfs page. This patch replace compound_trans_order by compond_order in the place where the page is hugetlbfs page.
