The patch titled cgroups: pull up res counter charge failure interpretation to caller has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is cgroups-pull-up-res-counter-charge-failure-interpretation-to-caller.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/SubmitChecklist when testing your code *** See http://userweb.kernel.org/~akpm/stuff/added-to-mm.txt to find out what to do about this The current -mm tree may be found at http://userweb.kernel.org/~akpm/mmotm/ ------------------------------------------------------ Subject: cgroups: pull up res counter charge failure interpretation to caller From: Frederic Weisbecker <fweisbec@xxxxxxxxx> res_counter_charge() always returns -ENOMEM when the limit is reached and the charge thus can't happen. However it's up to the caller to interpret this failure and return the appropriate error value. The task counter subsystem will need to report the user that a fork() has been cancelled because of some limit reached, not because we are too short on memory. Fix this by returning -1 when res_counter_charge() fails.
