The patch titled brk: COMPAT_BRK: fix detection of randomized brk has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is brk-compat_brk-fix-detection-of-randomized-brk.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/SubmitChecklist when testing your code *** See http://userweb.kernel.org/~akpm/stuff/added-to-mm.txt to find out what to do about this The current -mm tree may be found at http://userweb.kernel.org/~akpm/mmotm/ ------------------------------------------------------ Subject: brk: COMPAT_BRK: fix detection of randomized brk From: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@xxxxxxx> 5520e89 ("brk: fix min_brk lower bound computation for COMPAT_BRK") tried to get the whole logic of brk randomization for legacy (libc5-based) applications finally right. It turns out that the way to detect whether brk has actually been randomized in the end or not introduced by that patch still doesn't work for those binaries, as reported by Geert. I don't like it, but currently see no better option than a bit flag in task_struct to catch the CONFIG_COMPAT_BRK && randomize_va_space == 2 case.
