The patch titled x86: handle overlapping mptables has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is x86-handle-overlapping-mptables.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/SubmitChecklist when testing your code *** See http://userweb.kernel.org/~akpm/stuff/added-to-mm.txt to find out what to do about this The current -mm tree may be found at http://userweb.kernel.org/~akpm/mmotm/ ------------------------------------------------------ Subject: x86: handle overlapping mptables From: Andi Kleen <andi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> We found a system where the MP table MPC and MPF structures overlap. That doesn't really matter because the mptable is not used anyways with ACPI, but it leads to a panic in the early allocator due to the overlapping reservations in 2.6.33. Earlier kernels handled this without problems. Simply change these reservations to reserve_early_overlap_ok to avoid the panic.
