The patch titled
     Char: stallion, variables cleanup
has been removed from the -mm tree.  Its filename was
     char-stallion-variables-cleanup.patch

This patch was dropped because it was merged into mainline or a subsystem tree

- fix `gcc -W' un/signed warnings by converting some ints -> uints.
- move 3 global variables into functions, where are they used.
