The patch titled Subject: mm: hugetlb: simplify per-node sysfs creation and removal has been added to the -mm mm-unstable branch. Its filename is mm-hugetlb-simplify-per-node-sysfs-creation-and-removal.patch This patch will shortly appear at https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/25-new.git/tree/patches/mm-hugetlb-simplify-per-node-sysfs-creation-and-removal.patch This patch will later appear in the mm-unstable branch at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/mm Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next via the mm-everything branch at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/mm and is updated there every 2-3 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Muchun Song <songmuchun@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: mm: hugetlb: simplify per-node sysfs creation and removal Date: Fri, 19 Aug 2022 16:00:29 +0800 The following commit offload per-node sysfs creation and removal to a kworker and did not say why it is needed. And it also said "I don't know that this is absolutely required". It seems like the author was not sure as well. Since it only complicates the code, this patch will revert the changes to simplify the code. 39da08cb074c ("hugetlb: offload per node attribute registrations") We could use memory hotplug notifier to do per-node sysfs creation and removal instead of inserting those operations to node registration and unregistration. Then, it can reduce the code coupling between node.c and hugetlb.c. Also, it can simplify the code.
