The patch titled Subject: mm/debug_vm_pgtable: ensure THP availability via has_transparent_hugepage() has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is mm-debug_vm_pgtable-ensure-thp-availability-via-has_transparent_hugepage.patch This patch should soon appear at https://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/mm-debug_vm_pgtable-ensure-thp-availability-via-has_transparent_hugepage.patch and later at https://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/mm-debug_vm_pgtable-ensure-thp-availability-via-has_transparent_hugepage.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Anshuman Khandual <anshuman.khandual@xxxxxxx> Subject: mm/debug_vm_pgtable: ensure THP availability via has_transparent_hugepage() On certain platforms, THP support could not just be validated via the build option CONFIG_TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE. Instead has_transparent_hugepage() also needs to be called upon to verify THP runtime support. Otherwise the debug test will just run into unusable THP helpers like in the case of a 4K hash config on powerpc platform [1]. This just moves all pfn_pmd() and pfn_pud() after THP runtime validation with has_transparent_hugepage() which prevents the mentioned problem.
