The patch titled Subject: kasan: add compiler barriers to KUNIT_EXPECT_KASAN_FAIL has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is kasan-add-compiler-barriers-to-kunit_expect_kasan_fail.patch This patch should soon appear at https://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/kasan-add-compiler-barriers-to-kunit_expect_kasan_fail.patch and later at https://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/kasan-add-compiler-barriers-to-kunit_expect_kasan_fail.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Andrey Konovalov <andreyknvl@xxxxxxxxxx> Subject: kasan: add compiler barriers to KUNIT_EXPECT_KASAN_FAIL It might not be obvious to the compiler that the expression must be executed between writing and reading to fail_data. In this case, the compiler might reorder or optimize away some of the accesses, and the tests will fail. Add compiler barriers around the expression in KUNIT_EXPECT_KASAN_FAIL and use READ/WRITE_ONCE() for accessing fail_data fields.
