The patch titled Subject: rapidio: convert get_user_pages() --> pin_user_pages() has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is rapidio-convert-get_user_pages-pin_user_pages.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/rapidio-convert-get_user_pages-pin_user_pages.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/rapidio-convert-get_user_pages-pin_user_pages.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: John Hubbard <jhubbard@xxxxxxxxxx> Subject: rapidio: convert get_user_pages() --> pin_user_pages() This code was using get_user_pages_fast(), in a "Case 2" scenario (DMA/RDMA), using the categorization from [1]. That means that it's time to convert the get_user_pages_fast() + put_page() calls to pin_user_pages_fast() + unpin_user_pages() calls. There is some helpful background in [2]: basically, this is a small part of fixing a long-standing disconnect between pinning pages, and file systems' use of those pages.
