The patch titled Subject: mm: memcontrol: convert anon and file-thp to new mem_cgroup_charge() API has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is mm-memcontrol-convert-anon-and-file-thp-to-new-mem_cgroup_charge-api.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/mm-memcontrol-convert-anon-and-file-thp-to-new-mem_cgroup_charge-api.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/mm-memcontrol-convert-anon-and-file-thp-to-new-mem_cgroup_charge-api.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Johannes Weiner <hannes@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: mm: memcontrol: convert anon and file-thp to new mem_cgroup_charge() API With the page->mapping requirement gone from memcg, we can charge anon and file-thp pages in one single step, right after they're allocated. This removes two out of three API calls - especially the tricky commit step that needed to happen at just the right time between when the page is "set up" and when it's "published" - somewhat vague and fluid concepts that varied by page type. All we need is a freshly allocated page and a memcg context to charge. v2: prevent double charges on pre-allocated hugepages in khugepaged Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/20200508183105.225460-13-hannes@xxxxxxxxxxx Signed-off-by: Johannes Weiner <hannes@xxxxxxxxxxx> Reviewed-by: Joonsoo Kim <iamjoonsoo.kim@xxxxxxx> Cc: Alex Shi <alex.shi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: Hugh Dickins <hughd@xxxxxxxxxx> Cc: "Kirill A.
