The patch titled Subject: mm/special: create generic fallbacks for pte_special() and pte_mkspecial() has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is mm-special-create-generic-fallbacks-for-pte_special-and-pte_mkspecial.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/mm-special-create-generic-fallbacks-for-pte_special-and-pte_mkspecial.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/mm-special-create-generic-fallbacks-for-pte_special-and-pte_mkspecial.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Anshuman Khandual <anshuman.khandual@xxxxxxx> Subject: mm/special: create generic fallbacks for pte_special() and pte_mkspecial() Currently there are many platforms that dont enable ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIAL but required to define quite similar fallback stubs for special page table entry helpers such as pte_special() and pte_mkspecial(), as they get build in generic MM without a config check. This creates two generic fallback stub definitions for these helpers, eliminating much code duplication. mips platform has a special case where pte_special() and pte_mkspecial() visibility is wider than what ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIAL enablement requires. This restricts those symbol visibility in order to avoid redefinitions which is now exposed through this new generic stubs and subsequent build failure. arm platform set_pte_at() definition needs to be moved into a C file just to prevent a build failure.
