The patch titled Subject: signal: simplify set_user_sigmask/restore_user_sigmask has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is signal-simplify-set_user_sigmask-restore_user_sigmask.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/signal-simplify-set_user_sigmask-restore_user_sigmask.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/signal-simplify-set_user_sigmask-restore_user_sigmask.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Oleg Nesterov <oleg@xxxxxxxxxx> Subject: signal: simplify set_user_sigmask/restore_user_sigmask task->saved_sigmask and ->restore_sigmask are only used in the ret-from- syscall paths. This means that set_user_sigmask() can save ->blocked in ->saved_sigmask and do set_restore_sigmask() to indicate that ->blocked was modified. This way the callers do not need 2 sigset_t's passed to set/restore and restore_user_sigmask() renamed to restore_saved_sigmask_unless() turns into the trivial helper which just calls restore_saved_sigmask().
