The patch titled Subject: mm/vmscan: drop may_writepage and classzone_idx from direct reclaim begin template has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is mm-vmscan-drop-may_writepage-and-classzone_idx-from-direct-reclaim-begin-template.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/mm-vmscan-drop-may_writepage-and-classzone_idx-from-direct-reclaim-begin-template.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/mm-vmscan-drop-may_writepage-and-classzone_idx-from-direct-reclaim-begin-template.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Yafang Shao <laoar.shao@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: mm/vmscan: drop may_writepage and classzone_idx from direct reclaim begin template There are three tracepoints using this template, which are mm_vmscan_direct_reclaim_begin, mm_vmscan_memcg_reclaim_begin, mm_vmscan_memcg_softlimit_reclaim_begin. Regarding mm_vmscan_direct_reclaim_begin, sc.may_writepage is !laptop_mode, that's a static setting, and reclaim_idx is derived from gfp_mask which is already show in this tracepoint. Regarding mm_vmscan_memcg_reclaim_begin, may_writepage is !laptop_mode too, and reclaim_idx is (MAX_NR_ZONES-1), which are both static value. mm_vmscan_memcg_softlimit_reclaim_begin is the same with mm_vmscan_memcg_reclaim_begin. So we can drop them all.
