The patch titled
     Subject: kernel/gcov/gcc_3_4.c: use struct_size() in kzalloc()
has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is
     gcov-use-struct_size-in-kzalloc.patch

This patch should soon appear at
    http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/gcov-use-struct_size-in-kzalloc.patch
and later at
    http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/gcov-use-struct_size-in-kzalloc.patch

Before you just go and hit "reply", please:
   a) Consider who else should be cc'ed
   b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well
   c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a
      reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's

*** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code ***

The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated
there every 3-4 working days

Subject: kernel/gcov/gcc_3_4.c: use struct_size() in kzalloc()

One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding
the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along with
memory for some number of elements for that array. For example:

struct foo {
    int stuff;
    void *entry[];
};

instance = kzalloc(sizeof(struct foo) + sizeof(void *) * count, GFP_KERNEL);

Instead of leaving these open-coded and prone to type mistakes, we can now
use the new struct_size() helper:

instance = kzalloc(struct_size(instance, entry, count), GFP_KERNEL);

This code was detected with the help of Coccinelle.
