The patch titled Subject: mm: change return type to vm_fault_t has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is mm-change-return-type-to-vm_fault_t.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/mm-change-return-type-to-vm_fault_t.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/mm-change-return-type-to-vm_fault_t.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Souptick Joarder <jrdr.linux@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: mm: change return type to vm_fault_t Use new return type vm_fault_t for fault handler in struct vm_operations_struct. For now, this is just documenting that the function returns a VM_FAULT value rather than an errno. Once all instances are converted, vm_fault_t will become a distinct type. commit 1c8f422059ae ("mm: change return type to vm_fault_t") Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/20180512063745.GA26866@jordon-HP-15-Notebook-PC Signed-off-by: Souptick Joarder <jrdr.linux@xxxxxxxxx> Reviewed-by: Matthew Wilcox <mawilcox@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Reviewed-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: Joe Perches <joe@xxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: Michal Hocko <mhocko@xxxxxxxx> Cc: Hugh Dickins <hughd@xxxxxxxxxx> Cc: Dan Williams <dan.j.williams@xxxxxxxxx> Cc: David Rientjes <rientjes@xxxxxxxxxx> Cc: Mike Kravetz <mike.kravetz@xxxxxxxxxx> Cc: Naoya Horiguchi <n-horiguchi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: Aneesh Kumar K.V <aneesh.kumar@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> --- include/linux/mm_types.h | 6 +++--- mm/hugetlb.c | 2 +- mm/mmap.c | 4 ++-- 3 files changed, 6 insertions(+), 6 deletions(-) diff -puN include/linux/mm_types.h~mm-change-return-type-to-vm_fault_t include/linux/mm_types.h --- a/include/linux/mm_types.h~mm-change-return-type-to-vm_fault_t +++ a/include/linux/mm_types.h @@ -619,9 +619,9 @@ struct vm_special_mapping { * If non-NULL, then this is called to resolve page faults * on the special mapping.
