The patch titled Subject: arm64: stacktrace: avoid listing stacktrace functions in stacktrace has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is arm64-stacktrace-avoid-listing-stacktrace-functions-in-stacktrace.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/arm64-stacktrace-avoid-listing-stacktrace-functions-in-stacktrace.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/arm64-stacktrace-avoid-listing-stacktrace-functions-in-stacktrace.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/SubmitChecklist when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Prakash Gupta <guptap@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: arm64: stacktrace: avoid listing stacktrace functions in stacktrace The stacktraces always begin as follows: [<c00117b4>] save_stack_trace_tsk+0x0/0x98 [<c0011870>] save_stack_trace+0x24/0x28 ... This is because the stack trace code includes the stack frames for itself. This is incorrect behaviour, and also leads to "skip" doing the wrong thing (which is the number of stack frames to avoid recording.) Perversely, it does the right thing when passed a non-current thread. Fix this by ensuring that we have a known constant number of frames above the main stack trace function, and always skip these.
