The patch titled Subject: mm, vmscan: only wakeup kswapd once per node for the requested classzone has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is mm-vmscan-only-wakeup-kswapd-once-per-node-for-the-requested-classzone.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/mm-vmscan-only-wakeup-kswapd-once-per-node-for-the-requested-classzone.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/mm-vmscan-only-wakeup-kswapd-once-per-node-for-the-requested-classzone.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/SubmitChecklist when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Mel Gorman <mgorman@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: mm, vmscan: only wakeup kswapd once per node for the requested classzone kswapd is woken when zones are below the low watermark but the wakeup decision is not taking the classzone into account. Now that reclaim is node-based, it is only required to wake kswapd once per node and only if all zones are unbalanced for the requested classzone. Note that one node might be checked multiple times if the zonelist is ordered by node because there is no cheap way of tracking what nodes have already been visited. For zone-ordering, each node should be checked only once.
