The patch titled
     Subject: mm/slab: avoid returning values by reference
has been removed from the -mm tree.  Its filename was
     mm-slab-avoid-returning-values-by-reference.patch

This patch was dropped because it was merged into mainline or a subsystem tree

Subject: mm/slab: avoid returning values by reference

Returing values by reference is bad practice.  Instead, just use function
return value.
