The patch titled Subject: fs/proc/task_mmu.c: simplify m_start() to make it readable has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is fs-proc-task_mmuc-simplify-m_start-to-make-it-readable.patch This patch should soon appear at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/fs-proc-task_mmuc-simplify-m_start-to-make-it-readable.patch and later at http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/fs-proc-task_mmuc-simplify-m_start-to-make-it-readable.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/SubmitChecklist when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Oleg Nesterov <oleg@xxxxxxxxxx> Subject: fs/proc/task_mmu.c: simplify m_start() to make it readable Now that m->version is gone we can cleanup m_start(). In particular, - Remove the "unsigned long" typecast, m->index can't be negative or exceed ->map_count. But lets use "unsigned int pos" to make it clear that "pos < map_count" is safe. - Remove the unnecessary "vma != NULL" check in the main loop. It can't be NULL unless we have a vm bug. - This also means that "pos < map_count" case can simply return the valid vma and avoid "goto" and subsequent checks.
