The patch titled powermac: Combined fixes for backlight code has been added to the -mm tree. Its filename is powermac-combined-fixes-for-backlight-code.patch See http://www.zip.com.au/~akpm/linux/patches/stuff/added-to-mm.txt to find out what to do about this ------------------------------------------------------ Subject: powermac: Combined fixes for backlight code From: Michael Hanselmann <linux-kernel@xxxxxxxxx> This patch fixes several problems: - pmac_backlight_key() is called under interrupt context, and therefore can't use mutexes or semaphores, so defer the backlight level for later, as it's not critical (original code by Aristeu S. Rozanski F. <aris@xxxxxxxxxx>). - Add exports for functions that might be called from modules - Fix Kconfig depdencies on PMAC_BACKLIGHT. - Fix locking issues on calls from inside the driver (reported by Aristeu S. Rozanski F., too) - Fix wrong calculation of backlight values in some of the drivers - Replace pmac_backlight_key_up/down by inline functions Signed-off-by: Michael Hanselmann <linux-kernel@xxxxxxxxx> Acked-by: Aristeu S. Rozanski F. <aris@xxxxxxxxxx> Acked-by: Rene Nussbaumer <linux-kernel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@xxxxxxxx> --- arch/powerpc/platforms/powermac/backlight.c | 31 ++++++-- drivers/macintosh/Kconfig | 5 + drivers/video/aty/aty128fb.c | 66 +++++++++--------- drivers/video/aty/atyfb_base.c | 53 ++++++++------ drivers/video/chipsfb.c | 3 drivers/video/nvidia/nv_backlight.c | 32 +++++++- drivers/video/nvidia/nv_proto.h | 2 drivers/video/nvidia/nvidia.c | 11 --- drivers/video/riva/fbdev.c | 44 ++++++++---- include/asm-powerpc/backlight.h | 6 - 10 files changed, 156 insertions(+), 97 deletions(-) diff -puN arch/powerpc/platforms/powermac/backlight.c~powermac-combined-fixes-for-backlight-code arch/powerpc/platforms/powermac/backlight.c --- a/arch/powerpc/platforms/powermac/backlight.c~powermac-combined-fixes-for-backlight-code +++ a/arch/powerpc/platforms/powermac/backlight.c @@ -15,6 +15,15 @@ #define OLD_BACKLIGHT_MAX 15 +static void pmac_backlight_key_worker(void *data); +static DECLARE_WORK(pmac_backlight_key_work, pmac_backlight_key_worker, NULL); + +/* Although this variable is used in interrupt context, it makes no sense to + * protect it.
