This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled MIPS: lantiq: gphy: Drop reboot/remove reset asserts to the 4.14-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: mips-lantiq-gphy-drop-reboot-remove-reset-asserts.patch and it can be found in the queue-4.14 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From 32795631e67e16141aa5e065c28ba03bf17abb90 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Mathias Kresin <dev@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Sun, 8 Apr 2018 10:30:03 +0200 Subject: MIPS: lantiq: gphy: Drop reboot/remove reset asserts From: Mathias Kresin <dev@xxxxxxxxx> commit 32795631e67e16141aa5e065c28ba03bf17abb90 upstream. While doing a global software reset, these bits are not cleared and let some bootloader fail to initialise the GPHYs. The bootloader don't expect the GPHYs in reset, as they aren't during power on. The asserts were a workaround for a wrong syscon-reboot mask. With a mask set which includes the GPHY resets, these resets aren't required any more.
