Oops -- I've meant CONFIG_CPU_MIPS32, of course, which selects a MIPS32 ISA compliant CPU. CONFIG_MIPS32 (together with CONFIG_MIPS64) selects between a 32-bit and a 64-bit kernel, and for 2.4 it's not directly settable -- it's implied by the architecture selected with the ARCH Makefile variable.
