I can live with that, already done.

I just checked the FTP server for a new version
(ftp://ftp.linux-mips.org/pub/linux/mips/crossdev/i386-linux/), and someone
actually provided a
new set of binutils. It's less than a month ago (Nov 12), it was put there.
But if that works you won't hear more about it from my side ;-)
