Re: Audio clicking noises?

This page describes the proper sample and bit required for ming MP3 use.  Also provides instructions for installing Audacity and Lame on your PC.  Both are free and they do work great.  I managed to get them working following his directions.  You may have to search around a little for the Lame download.  This is the program that will convert your WAV files created with Audacity to MP3 at a sample and bit rate that you specify.  Hope that helps.

Here are some sounds that I have changed over with Audacity and Lame for use with Ming scripts.

Jerry these were made using your old Beatnik site (which I have saved when you left).  It can still be used on a PC with a WebTV viewer.

You can still download the webTV viewer.  The link for registering the site is dead but if the PC thinks you tried to register it will still let you use it.  It will give you a message that the site could not be reached at this time and when you close that page it will load the viewer.

Have you tried all the flags that you can set when importing your audio file?  It's been 3 years since I used sound files in a Ming generated project, so my memory is a bit fuzzy.  I believe any issues I had like that were resolved either through the original encoding, and proper flag setttings.  There are a few sound examples on Gazb's website that should give you some ideas: http://www.gazbming.com/

Hope that helps!

OK, I've worked on this a bit more.  Different file formats and
compression ratios have different results.  wav seems to have big
problems, but .mp3 works better.  Flash proper seems to always convert
files to mp3 with the highest possible compression.  I'll try that and
see if it works.

Thanks.
