how to get archives organized by month

Is there something I can look at in MHonARC that will tell me how to get the
index page to do monthly organization?

Do I need to use mharc to get this?
I only have one list I'm archiving and mharc is way more complex than a few
lines to .procmailrc...
(it took my about 10 minutes to get the list going using .procmailrc... in
contrast to an hour with mharc and I was still confused)
