One more strange thing, Earl: The archives for 200104 are created, but only
393 messages are found/generated, but there are 3277 messages in that
file. If I recreate the process, mhonarc reads 393 messages - or 393 dots
are printed - then perl 5.6.1 goes into a spiral and consumes all CPU and
its memory size ulimit, then it writes out the 393 messages, leaving a
mammoth msg00393.html file containing the remainder.

I tried finding the message that caused it but I did not succeed.

Again: mhonarc 2.4.7, perl 5.6.1, NetBSD (x86) 1.5. The archive file was
generated by majordomo.

Earl: I can bzip2 the archive and send it to you along with my .rc file, if
that's OK.
