Monthly indexes

I'd like to know how I can produced monthly indexes as can be seen here:-

http://www.xray.mpe.mpg.de/mailing-lists/mhonarc/


I have managed to set up Mhonarc on OS/2 and it seems to work OK, but I 
just get one big list, as can be seen here:-

http://www.eyup.org/lists/archives/os2-unix/maillist.html


Do I need to use some additional software to split these list up by month?
The docs haven't pointed me in the right direction so far, maybe I'm not 
looking at the correct section....

Any tips would be appreciated.
