Java for Maemo 5?

Old news for many, I know, but I just noticed that there is a Guide for Java on Maemo 4:

Why java support seems to have stopped for Maemo 5/N900? Wouldn't it be a great idea to be able to use java programs in it?

Or was this stuff moved to another place? Does anyone know?

Any response would be appreciated, but keep in mind that saying "java is crap", I shouldn't go for it, I should instead use Android or something like that wouldn't address my point...
