iconv and windows-1252 on fremantle

Diablo, apparently, has a somewhat crippled support for the popular
Windows-1252 encoding:

  ~ $ iconv -l|grep 1252
  CP1252//
  WINDOWS-1252//

  ~ $ iconv -f cp1252 -t utf-8 < /dev/null
iconv: conversion from `cp1252' is not supported
Try `iconv --help' or `iconv --usage' for more information.

In practice this means that I cannot edit Windows-1252 files with Vim.

Can anybody with a shell on a N900 run these two iconv commands and
report the results?
