Hi,
I had this problem, too. But after I reflashed my N810 with the newest
Diablo image I didn't have this problem. But I didn't have it in Diablo
in the beginning, too.
I tried the steps from bugreport #1626 but still everything is ok.

hi,
I have some contacts in my jabber and gtalk roster multiple times. first
they was double, then few days later 3 times. But I can't recognize any
pattern. All my accounts are affected, but not in the same degree. And
not all contacts are affected. Some or 3 times, other two times in the
list.
Does anybody has the same problem?
I use the default chat application of maemo and have installed diablo on
a N810. How I can get more information to write a useful bugreport?
