On the other hand, I run GPE Summary **all** the time, with various options enabled at different times as I test various things and I haven't had a desktop crash for months. But it is worth trying disabling it and see if your crashes go away. By the way, I plan to have a GPE update available in December, which will have a number of bug fixes.
