I've noticed this too.  You have to hold down the fn, chr, ctrl or shift like a regular keyboard.

How do you enter a number?  The pull down keyboard
on the 810 becomes the PC keyboard.  Thus when you
select the 810 function key to enter a number, the
function key on the PC you have connected to is selected.
Also pressing on the screen does not start the on-screen
keyboard.
