Are there any media players that will remember where I left off when
listening to an audio or video file after I restart the application? I
listen to a lot of podcasts and audio books and get interrupted
frequently. It would be a great feature. I have tried most of the
players but can't find any that support this feature. Maybe it is a
"hidden" preference that I can set in a conf file somewhere?

Once it is checked out, you can install it by:
cd braino
./setup.py
If you don't want to install it, you can run youamp-player from the terminal. You'll find the resume option under the preferences menu.
