Maintaining an internet connection

Check /etc/resolv.conf. This sound like one of the name servers served
up by the DHCP server is functional and the rest aren't. Or manually
edit the file have you've been served an address such that
/etc/resolv.conf uses name servers that you know are valid.

Have you tried pinging or connecting to servers using their IP address
and not hostname?
