It depends on page[1], some are faster with Opera, some with the Gecko
based browser. I think Opera could be a bit better at rendering things
while page is still loading, but that could be because of the
accurateness.  If you disable both JavaScript and Flash[2], I would
assume them to be closer.

[1] With most pages the content (ads etc) also changes on each reload...
[2] Flash programs can also use JavaScript in addition to Flash
     actionscript I think

I think the default mediaplayer error message is pretty annoying.

When it complains about the format, it often means that the resolution
is too high.  Try something with size 400x240 or smaller, when that is
scaled up to the full 800x480 screen resolution, it's still sharper than
on your desktop (device screen DPI is well over 200, whereas desktop
displays are normally about 100 DPI :-)) and plays with reasonable FPS.
