Does anybody know if any work is being done to make the crypto engine in the OMAP/OMAP2 processors available under Linux? Last night I was copying a bunch of files into my N800 via SFTP, and noticed that SSHD was burning over 60% of the CPU doing the crypto. (yes, I could have used other means to do the copy e.g. USB, but using SFTP over the wifi link is easier as I can simply drag&drop from Nautilus without having to get the N800 and bring it into the computer room.) If the crypto engine could be made available as a kernel device, with appropriate libraries to make it handle SSL, that would greatly improve those sort of things.
