GPE 2.8 released

I am a use of the GPE Suite and really enjoy it. In trying to install the
2.7 update (calendar, contacts, timesheet, to-do) from Application Manager I
am getting"unable to update, Conflicting Application packages", Details
show "Conflict with application packages: libgpevtype0"

Should I 1) find and remove libgpevtype0 or 2) try to skip 2.7 and install
2.8.

I haven't flashed the latest op system. I don't know if I should uninstall
current GPE apps. If I unistall, do I lose the data?
