> But now I have some mp3 audio files on a notebook PC running Windows XP, and I would like to be able to transfer them to my N770 via FTP. I turned on the FTP server on the notebook, but my N770 times out when I try to connect, and my notebook gets shutdown by the remote host when I try to FTP from there. My work around is to transfer the mp3 files to my web site and download them to the N770 (which works).

If you have ssh installed, you could use scp or eventualy sftp.
You didn't mention what kind of connection you used to transfer.
