Some do.

Officially the SD spec allows cards up to 2 GB.  There's a different
format, SDHC, that allows larger cards.  SDHC cards are not currently
supported by N800, but there's an unofficial patched kernel that adds
support for them.

I bought a 4GB SD (not SDHC) card at a local shop.  It works.  The shop
let me try if it works before buying.
