Mediaplayer stutters with high bitrate mp3 files

Morning,

I seem to have a problem with high bitrate mp3 files (lame --preset
extreme) which are VBR with ~220kb/s.

Playing those files mediaplayer (and canola) begin to stutter, while the
rest of the system becomes somewhat unresponsive. top shows a load of
~1.50 while the mediaplayer consumes between 20% and 30% of cpu.

No other running applications seem to take up much cpu at that moment.
The mp3s are residing on the "external" SD card.

Is anyone else seeing that?

Cheers,

Ralph
