Applications unexpectedly closing on n800

Ok, so the issue is that you press the Back key long ("downward thumb
rolling motion").

This behaviour is documented in the beginning of the User guide ->
Device control -> Hardware keys: "a long keypress closes the topmost
dialog or application" (on page 12).
