The 50hz skip is probably unnecessary but could be useful in some circumstances - I'd say keep 50hz but make the scanning a bit smarter (over scan then seek backwards for a stronger signal once the signal begins to weaken). Integration of the FM Radio functionality into the media player would be a good idea. Also, adding the output selection (ie. output sound to speakers or output sound to headphones) should be added to the System sound/volume status bar applet - this is not an application specific setting. There should be three settings - speakers, headphones and auto (headphones if headphones connected) - and the current setting should be honored by all applications, not just the radio.
