Don't know if this information actually came through or not but...
Recently I had to send my 770 back for warranty replacement (Nokia 770
white screen of death, vertical bars).  My original 770 used to auto
power on for no apparent reason.  My new replacement does not do this.

With the old 770, to power on was just a quick tap of the power button,
the new one actually has to have the power button held down for at least
two seconds before it will turn on.

With the old one I did remove the battery for about five minutes but it
still did the same thing.

Just a bit more data to add.
