Ok, I'm not a guru. But...

/usr/share # ls -l /mnt/initfs/lib/modules/2.6.16-omap1/ext3.ko
- -rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root       144779 May 30 16:15

I would say module is present, The "No such file..." error, I guess is
referred to something else. IMHO
