First when I look at the clients that are connected to my AP it always lists the Nokia 770 as unknown. I had a similar problem with my Ubuntu desktop. I hardcoded the "send host-name" in the file "/etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf" and this worked great. I can't find this file on the Nokia 770. Does anybody know how to resolve this issue? My second question is how to configure a proxy for web browsing? I should also add that this proxy needs to use authentication. Thanks in advance for the help! -Sean ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2006 15:32:08 +0200 From: Kalle Valo Subject: Re: [maemo-users] hostname and proxy server settings To: sean at moss-pultz.com Cc: maemo-users at maemo.org Message-ID: <874q268lyf.fsf at nokia.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii "ext Sean Moss-Pultz" writes: > This email is actually two questions. Actually this problem was already reported and it's going to be fixed some time in the future. > Does anybody know how to resolve this issue? I can't think of any easy workaround for this until a fix is published. A really ugly hack would be to rename udhcpc binary udhcpc.bin and write a script which does this : #!/bin/sh exec /sbin/udhcpc.bin -h namehere $@ Replace the string "namehere" with the name you want to provide to the DHCP server. But this is completely untested. > My second question is how to configure a proxy for web browsing? You can set the proxy settings for each IAP from the Connectivity Control Panel applet (Control Panel > Connectivity > Connections > Edit > 3*Next > Advanced). > I should also add that this proxy needs to use authentication. Unfortunately proxy authentication isn't supported. -- Kalle Valo ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users at maemo.org https://maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users End of maemo-users Digest, Vol 11, Issue 8 ****************************************** --------------------------------- Yahoo!
