No.
I guess you did some no-no when editing and installing your files. It
would be interesting to know this no-no in order to prevent it in a next
release but for now I would advise you to reflash the device using the
latest firmware image.
This should safe you the device exchange (quite nonsense in this case)
and get you back in business. And eventually it will fix your wifi
problem too since the latest releases seem to perform a little better in
this respect.
