Any advice? No. I guess you did some no-no when editing and installing your files. It would be interesting to know this no-no in order to prevent it in a next release but for now I would advise you to reflash the device using the latest firmware image. This should safe you the device exchange (quite nonsense in this case) and get you back in business.
