[maemo-users] Opensource software for Itunes

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

 All,

pursuant to earlier posts on this subject of Apple itunes software on
the N770, here is an article on an opensource project/product that
supports playback of itunes on non-itunes compatible mp3 players while
at the same time pouring cold water on the notion that Apple would open
up itunes to the Linux community in general or Nokia specifically.

. In effect what the product developers must be doing is breaking the
Apple DRM protection, which may get the producers of this software in
trouble with respect to US Law, that is, the Digital Millennium
Copyright Act (DMCA). On the other hand, since the leader of this
effort, Michael Robertson has been down this "road" (that is, going
against the music copyright owners interests) before, with another
company he established, mp3.com, he most assuredly has his eyes open and
his legal team ready.
