RIF: LVM2 problems!!

My root partition is :
 
/dev/sda3 on / type ext3 (rw)
 
/dev/sda8 on /var type ext3 (rw,nodev)
 
they aren't read-only.....??
I don't know..... the storage is Hitachi external... can be a compatibility problem?
