Abit AW9D -- CPU temp value from abituguru3

This may be a newbie question, for which I apologise.

Running Linux Debian wheezy 3.1.0-1-amd64.

Motherboard is an old Abit AW9D (not a MAX edition, as is the more popular version of this board)

Not detected by default, but I can: "modprobe abituguru3 force" and I get the following message:

abituguru3: no Abit uGuru3 found, data = 0x00, cmd = 0xFF
abituguru3: Assuming Abit uGuru3 is present because of "force" parameter

I get what looks like correct values, and have used this module for 2 years from Debian Lenny -> Squeeze -> Wheezy.

In an effort to reduce CPU temperatures during load, I have swapped the CPU from a Core 2 Quad Q6600, to a Pentium Celeron E3200. The temperatures reported by coretemp have dropped over 20C, however the temperature reported for "CPU" by abituguru3 have remained the same.

With the Q6600, individual core temperatures reported by coretemp were ~5C higher than abituguru3. Now coretemp is displaying temperatures nearly 20C lower than abituguru3.

Is this normal?
Where does the temperature come from?
Is it something I can make more accurate in /etc/sensors.conf?
Should I just ignore abituguru3 for CPU temperature and rely on the coretemp values?

Any advice appreciated.
